Cheers to 21 Years, Manho!

It’s always bittersweet to write these types of articles, where we say goodbye to an integral part of the Studio21 Architects team. A longtime member of our team, Manho, will be leaving us for Hong Kong and while we aren’t happy that he’s leaving, we are happy to share with you all an article that rounds up Manho’s greatest hits over the last twenty-one years!
If you were to go to our Meet the Team page on our website, you’d see that Manho’s job title is that of Architectural Designer. At the office, his role as Architectural Designer essentially means that he has a hand in the drawing of plans (in both 2D and 3D), and the drafting of construction documents; his role also includes work as the translator for the architects’ redlining edits that’s part of the design process for most projects. Over his tenure at Studio21 Architects, however, Manho has worn many hats––a tried and true multidisciplinarian! In addition to being an Architectural Designer, Manho has been our source of much wisdom and knowledge in all things technology. He is such an expert at troubleshooting any kind of computer issue that around the office, you know when someone’s computer has stopped working only when you hear a voice shout, “Manho!”.

He may be technologically apt, but Manho is also equally artistic. Manho spearheaded our firm’s switch to Revit, and a number of the 3D renderings you have seen in our newsletters or online were created by him. He also has been the man behind the camera for many of our high-quality project photos. The photos from this issue of Studio Pages were not taken by Manho, but he graciously taught us a quick lesson in Project Photography 101 (and after the photos were taken, he “graciously” gave us many critiques!). Outside of the office, Manho spends his time on other artistic pursuits, namely ceramics. We’re happy to have many fantastic ceramic tokens that he made over the years to remember him by.

Quite the jokester as well, the longest standing members of our team have story upon story of jokes and pranks—often employing the use of Photoshop—that Manho has put together.
One of the fan favorite stories involves a Christmas gift for Bill, wrapped in paper that features Bill’s newsletter photograph printed across it. If only we had a photo of said wrapping paper!

Manho’s jokes and big personality will certainly leave a bit of a void at our office, but after twenty-one years as a part of Studio21 Architects, we are very glad to have many years to look back on. He has been an integral part of our office and team, helping Studio21 Architects in an innumerable number of ways. We will always appreciate how much he has done for not only our clients and our business, but also our in-office environment. We wish him the best of luck as he heads to Hong Kong, where he plans to spend more time with his family as well as do more world-traveling.

Cheers to 21 years, Manho!!!

Emma works as the Marketing Manager at Studio21 Architects. For each of our newsletters, Emma conducts interviews, writes articles, and formats the pages to make sure they reflect the great design we value so strongly at this firm. She may not be an architect, but she certainly makes sure that our marketing materials have the same high-quality design that our architecture has!
